RISOTTO Studio is a Glasgow-based print and design specialist founded by Gabriella Marcella. Embodying her love of colour and appetite for making, the studio facilitates everything from printing monthly posters to one off design commissions for brands.

Launched in 2012, RISOTTO is one of the UK's longest-running Risograph specialists, offering a stencil printing service for creatives looking to produce work in a vibrant and sustainable way. Similar to screen printing, the process uses rich spot colours and soy inks to create tactile, expressive prints with minimal environmental impact.

Brief

Having championed the creativity of artists and designers for a number of years, the next step for the brand was the completion of a new, custom-designed workspace. Turning her design language into her own studio, Gabriella set out to create a sculptural world of colour through the use of playful systems and furniture that would become part of the environment itself.

Designed to be both accessible and immersive, the studio allows visitors to experience the full creative process, from RISOTTO's stationery and pattern collections to the production of prints, costumes, and wearable pieces. The space invites people to get hands-on and see firsthand how this small, independent operation produces and ships its work around the world.

Project

Bisley worked closely with Gabriella Marcella to furnish the space with a curated selection of its iconic storage pieces, supporting both the practical demands of a working print environment and the visual identity of the studio. The installation includes MultiDrawer units in many sizes, LateralFile, a variety of classic filing cabinets and elements from the Outline collection, as well as pieces from the Bisley x RISOTTO collaboration launched at Clerkenwell Design Week 2025.

Blending established classics with a bold use of colour, each piece has been thoughtfully specified in a mix of vibrant finishes, from Bisley Blue and Bisley Pink to Cardinal Red and Golden Sunflower Yellow, alongside a historical nod to Bisley's classic Coffee and Cream seen across traditional card filers dotted throughout the studio. Rather than uniformity and the conventional, the installation embraces individuality. Contrasting coloured products, alternating coloured drawers and layered tones have been combined across the design, with custom configurations imagined by Gabriella by pairing different product ranges.

Together, these transform functional storage into a series of expressive, almost sculptural moments throughout the studio, exploring colour in its purest form through Bisley's standard palette. In a time where many workplaces are moving away from physical storage, RISOTTO Studio demonstrates its continued relevance within specialist creative environments. In a print-led space, paper is the process. From raw stock to finished pieces, the studio relies on robust, well
organised storage systems, making Bisley's classic solutions not only appropriate, but integral to how the space functions.

MultiDrawer units and classic filing systems provide the structure needed to support this process, demonstrating how well-designed storage continues to play a critical role in environments where making and printing are at the core.

Result

The completed studio is both a fully functioning print environment and an immersive creative space, where storage plays an active role in the visual experience.

By combining colour, form, and function, the installation reflects RISOTTO's bold design language while supporting the day-to-day needs of the studio. The result is a space that celebrates making, invites interaction, and brings Gabriella's graphic world to life in three dimensions.
