Rabobank is a leading international co-operative bank with global offices and a strong commitment to sustainability, well-being, and innovation. Its new 48,000 sqft UK headquarters at Sixty London Wall was designed to support hybrid and flexible working, while aiming to meet ambitious environmental goals with BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum targets.

Brief

As part of its workplace strategy, Rabobank required a personal storage solution that could adapt to the needs of a hybrid workforce. With staff working flexibly across multiple days and international colleagues frequently visiting, the client needed lockers that were both secure and easy to manage.

The solution also needed to support a variety of flexible use cases beyond personal storage. This included providing short-term lockers for visiting colleagues and guests, accommodating parcel deliveries and collections, and enabling secure IT asset drop-off and pick-up. By consolidating these functions into a single smart system, Rabobank sought to create an adaptable infrastructure that would futureproof the office and reduce the administrative burden for facilities teams.

A further benefit for Facilities Managers is the data and insights generated by BeSmart, including information on locker usage rates, user behaviours, and employee flow across floors. These metrics provide a valuable tool for monitoring workplace patterns and can inform future space planning and operational decisions.

Project

Introduced to the the project by Consider64, Bisley supplied LockerWall powered by BeSmart, installing 618 locker doors across Rabobank’s new headquarters. The lockers were finished in durable MFC with rusty red and agave green tones, and denim blue designed to sit harmoniously within a workspace characterised by natural tones and wood elements across the wider interiors scheme.

The BeSmart system, powered by the Keynius locking platform, allows employees and visitors to reserve and access lockers directly from their mobile devices. Facilities Managers can administer lockers “on the go”, reallocating or releasing units in real time to match changing occupancy levels. Each locker bank is fitted with a mechanical override for additional security and continuity in the event of a power outage.

Result

The installation has delivered a flexible and futureproof locker system that supports Rabobank’s hybrid working culture. BeSmart ensures that personal storage adapts seamlessly to fluctuating occupancy, while reducing the administrative burden for facilities teams.

By combining robust MFC finishes with warm, natural tones, the lockers not only fulfil a practical need but also enhance the workplace aesthetic in line with Rabobank’s focus on well-being and sustainability. Importantly, Bisley’s responsible material choices — including sustainably sourced wood elements used across our products — contributed positively towards the project’s ambition to meet BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum targets, aligning with the high standards set for the building’s design.

Bisley worked closely with Consider64, Overbury as the main contractor, and Sheppard Robson as the architect to deliver the installation within the wider fit-out programme, ensuring the lockers matched the same high standards of quality and environmental performance as the rest of the project.
